If one wants interaction then it can be had in off topic discussion. Football, ice hockey, rugby or the weather, gosh you can start a thread about anything not pertaining to pipe smoking in the right area and interact with all participants. I think what drives many away is the regurgitation of the same question asked 100 different ways when a simple search can easily reveal well articulated discussion from years gone by on the topic. This forum is full of lurkers and the time they have spent peeking through the bushes must have revealed the machinations of the forum which includes the search function, so why the reticence to use it once people reveal themselves, surely not just for the sake of a chat……………
But most of the interaction relates to pipes. I have showed my pipes to everyone in my life.......nobody cares.
If I tell them I paid over $100 for a pipe, they call me crazy.
Here, everyone likes the pipe, they can't believe it was only $100 and they show their similar pipe......thats interaction I personally can only find online. Many of the threads here are 100% for interaction, not learning....."what are you smoking?", "Show us your....", "opening a tin?, show it."
When you see a thread about a common question, ignore it.
Ive noticed there a several long time members who answer every newbie question, and many that don't.
I chime in if it's something I have an opinion about, otherwise I ignore it.

This thread has become a microcosm of the entire forum.
"Yes, it has"
"No, it hasn't"
Thank heavens for that.
When everyone agrees it gets boring.
There are differences between arguing and disagreeing.
Unfortunately there are people who get offended either way.
I haven’t seen too much of that here, but people are strange.
I should write a song about that. :)

Older threads can and do often have conversations in them that suddenly merit new review. Not always, but often enough.
I’m often disappointed to find that a thread that I’d like to update, revise, revisit, re…something has been closed for no apparent reason. In general, IMHO, too many threads here get closed. I understand decapitation when a thread dives down an overly contentious and acrimonious rabbit hole, but other times the reason for closing mystifies me.

As for @sablebrush52, anything and everything he posts here I enjoy. Jesse is the No.1 contributor, not the “bump” problem. It’s all those new members posts and the gazillion “welcome from…” replies that take over the front page. @admin is there anything that can be done about that? Maybe block the follow up posts from the front page?

I was thinking something more like this:

People are strange
When you're a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you're alone
Women seem wicked
When you're unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you're down
When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange
People are strange
When you're a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you're alone
Women seem wicked
When you're unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you're down
When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange
All right, yeah
When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange
