I watched P3 of both game 7's, both OT's last night - fantastic games.

Well, after being out of town for the last 5 days, and away from a TV most of the time, I only caught a little bit of hockey over the weekend. I missed my Avs blow game 7, and blow the series. It should have been a 4-0 sweep, but when it came to crunch time their execution was flawed. They played like crap in both OT games, and just couldn't finish games except the game 6 winner which was to little to late in a sense. Kudo's to the Stars for battling and finding ways to win. It was also great to see Landy back on the ice after two years away with injuries. Such a great comeback for him. Well, on to next year for the Avs.
I really thought the Blues might pull off the upset, but the Jets fought back and took the series win. Great series though. Knights and Wild played out about how I expected it. I though I picked the Oilers, after the first couple games I thought the series would go different, but the Oilers rallied and never looked back.
I didn't watch much of the Eastern Conference 1st round, but I was surprised New Jersey just rolled over and died and didn't put up much of a fight. Canes look good. Capitals also look really good while the Habs did not. I was also surprised by the Lightning that they only won one game. I thought for sure that series would have played a lot different and been more exciting. For the Leafs' fans... congrats, you won a series. LOL
Ok, who's ready for round two? Should be some great hockey ahead with some great matchups.

The Golden Knights better grasp a game is 60 minutes and not 20. If we don’t fix that timing issue, we’ll join the Kings on the golf course
Man, the Hurricanes OWNED the Caps. they had about 80% of puck time in the offensive zone. The Canes outshot the Caps 33-14.
Missed passes everywhere, we couldn't get past the blue line.
Ovechkin gets the puck taken from him every time. One shot on goal.
Logan Thompson kept us in the game, but gave up a tough shot in OT.
This is one of the worst Caps performances I've seen in a long time. And, now lost home arena advantage.
The only fun moment - Tom Wilson taking Aho's mouthguard. Tommy, quite the tom-foolerly and score a goal or two.

1. Getting beaten to the puck in the D-zone by a 1-man forecheck.
2. Nurse, McDavid, Draisaitl get caught spectating, leaving the high forward undefended.
3. Skinner wanders out of his net like the second coming of Ron Hextall.
4. God forbid #29 goes down on the ice to block a shot!
Ironic that Skinner actually played decently the entire game, only to panic on the most important play.
Dallas needs to step it up, big time. Ditto Florida. I don't see anyone stopping the Canes in the east, though.
Quenneville coaching the Ducks is going to be a hoot. Guy ought to make Tommy Lasorda look calm and collected by comparison.

Wild Bill - 71 an OG Misfit received a puck from OG Misfit McNabb and took it the way down the ice like a one man hockey team and then sent the puck to a trailing OG/Reformed Misfit and rest is history.

And the Capitals have imploded. Carlson needs to retire and I suspect Ovie is hiding an injury, perhaps the foot he broke earlier this year. We can't solve Anderson, who is now the best goalie of the NHL playoffs (he was 2nd behind Thompson). I'm not sure who beats the Canes.
I hate losing. But what does one expect when during a critical 2-1 series and a 2-2 is on the table, you allow the other team to muck it up and you play into their muck.

You're probably right, but look on the bright side...at least Nurse hasn't decapitated anyone. Yet.
I'm in DC this week for work. Ticket prices are plummeting. But even at $130, I can't stomach seeing them get knocked out on Thursday. (that's six tins of tobacco, the memory of which I'll savor). And a 6 AM flight back to NOLA on Friday morning. I'll just curse the TV.
Don’t really like them but I follow the Caps, only due to them being the parent team for the AHL Hershey Bears, where I have season tickets, and I like to follow the players called up.

I follow the Bears! They are on a roll, again (2 time Calder Cup champion). They won nine playoff games in a row, an AHL record.
As a Canes fan we’ve complained about our goaltending for years even with Anderson healthy we’ve still scapegoated him as our reason for early playoff exits, even when it’s our scoring that doesn’t fully take off. So to see him healthy and playing like this at the moment is a beautiful thing! Looks like we are deep and deeply frustrating to play against, I think this is our best chance in the last 8 years to make a run.
Canes vs Stars finals and maybe hold the cup if we can tie up Mr. Too Good for Carolina Rantanen. Or if the Oilers make it through Dallas and play the Canes in a rematch of the 06’ Stanley Cup, that would be pretty great.
My wife's high school friend lives in Raleigh and is a Canes season ticket holder. She is famous for getting her signs on TV. I told her to not make fun of Tom, but she made this one anyway. She hates Tom and of course we love him (our next Captain)
