Been seeing these things pop up on etsy lately...allegedly universal and fit in the bottom of most bowls. As I tend to smoke while I do yard work often, it can get a little...moist...at the bottom of the bowl and a good clump of tobacco tends to go unsmoked because of it. Was thinking of using something like this to create a buffer, but was wondering if they're gimmicky or if they're actually useful, or if I'm better just using meerschaum chips or pebbles at the bottom

I use them in all my new meers. I like them as my tobacco is very dry and it helps from sucking it through to the stem. I use them untill they fall out with the ash.

I tried them for awhile. I think they worked reasonably well too keep a steady draw and maintain cranes. If you leave one in too long, PITA to get it out. Want worth the hassle, I quit using them.
