New addition to my "family" . . . my Birthday Present to myself. Not an addition, but I'm in a gradual refinement of my pipe collection. About 8 or so refinements planned when I'm able. When I add, I'll be giving away the pipe it replaces to one of my friends. This beautiful Rhodesian Meer replaces my very nice Rhodesian entry level Brigham, which I do smoke quite a bit; it's an excellent pipe. And so forth it will go until my stable is where I wish it to be. I'm perfectly satisfied with what I have, but as I implied, there are a few areas that need a boost. I chose the Rhodesian style because I love the way they fit in the hand.
This meer was bought from the same source as my other larger meer, and I plan on biasing it for Balkan style tobaccos, which I smoke a lot and really like. Now that I'm growing (apparently successfully) my own Turkish Balkans, and planning on adding Virginias as well (more on that later

) I'll be smoking more of the Balkan style, whatever that is. Needless to say, more Balkan mixes from homegrowns will be added.
This was made by the same maker as my other larger meer, and dates from the 1950s. The quality and smokability of the original is so good, that I took the plunge. Forgot the maker's name, but I'll dig it up and post it when I have my first smoke in it, which will be
Dunhill's Nightcap. Apparently, it may even be cut from the same meer block.
ETA is about the end of the month.
