Very, very, early early morning smoke:
My dog Ricoh, as you know, is not doing well and is on his last legs. Whining woke me up at 3:00 am - he'd evacuated and wanted to be fed. I did the cleanup thing and fed him, with the addition of his daily dose of 3 droppers of a mixture of 2/3 brandy and 1/3 castor oil, which has rejuvenated him substantially, plus probably turning him into an alcoholic. Worth it in the long run cuz he's my buddy.
Went back to bed and was curious what a 3:30 AM pipe would be like. So being like the curious cat of folklore, I loaded my
Miniature McQueen Barrel Rider with its dedicated
Mad Fiddler, lit up, and began the smoke. About 6 or 7 minutes or so into the expected usual 25 minutes or so, I put it down. Not much in the way of tastebuds happening at this hour. Yeah, it tasted like Mad Fiddler but not great. But when I woke up at 8:30, I re lit the pipe. Not much left as you'd expect . . . . the embers in the tiny bowl left only about 4 minutes or so of tangibly tastess dregs. So much for the midnight skulker. Chewing some tobacco as I write this - still way too early at 10:00 am for this guy's tastebuds to be in any kind of functional form, and my system was crying out for nicotine.
Ignorable Dialogue behind the old stock photo. This ignorable dialogue will probably be interesting to Canadians, and it's copied from another post I made in the forum about 20 minutes ago. I'm now broke until May end pension after these two emergency orders.
Ignorable Dialogue:
BC Canada price update: As a lot of you know, I and many others now buy tobacco from CigarChief Mohawk reserve in Ontario, who are tax exempt and allowed to ship to any place in Canada, unlike other outlets where only intra-provincial shipping is allowed.
Over the past two weeks, CigarChief has been swamped and most of their stock has been purchased. I've been part of this mad rush, obtaining 1 bag of Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish for the usual $70 bucks, three tins of Bengal Slices for $59.95 each, and a couple of packs of Borkum Riff Dark for $32.00, plus an assortment of my favourite cheap stogies. This, as all you Canucks know, is the
best we can do plus the usual $41 for courier shipping or $26 bucks for uninsured snail mail.
I checked out of curiosity last night, and they've almost been completely drained of product. What is interesting though, is two restocked itens. A tin of Carter Hall (14 oz) has increased from $102 and change to $!96.26, and a tin of Prince Albert has gone from $102 and change to $196.26.
All Smokers' Pride 12 ounce bags are gone, and their price was $70 bucks a bag. When stocked and the new taxes added, they'll be selling for roughly $134 plus change. Lovely, eh?
I'll leave all political comment aside except for saying that the Western Canada Concept is returning in force in BC outside of Vancouver and the Island, as well. Moi aussi.
