I know what you mean - it's a good song, but hardly the be all and end all of The Kinks.

I can't listen to Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" album; it was played to death on the radio and used for TV and who knows what else at the time, it's "dead" to me now, no matter how good it is.

I discovered the Kinks in junior high school after hearing VanHalen’s version of “You Really Got Me” and have been a fan ever since. The sheer breadth of styles in their catalog is impressive. For example (in my opinion) Destroyer, A Well Respected Man, Ape Man and Come Dancing all sound unquestionably like the Kinks but could not be more different stylistically.

The Kinks are just a bit too far of a reach today for "Classic Rock" on the radio, which now includes the 90's boy bands.
