Well not to politicize our wonderful tobacco forum, but for starters we no longer can view or post any news or news related articles on any social media platform. Literally none. If I try and post a headline even from my own country, it's immediately blocked and our account gets put on notice.

It’s not Canadian law though, it’s Meta’s rule in Canada.
Definitely not communist. More like capitalist.
Allowing articles to be posted to their platform would eat away at Meta profit which is what all capitalists try to avoid.

You should be good - you're within the declared amounts. At the worst, you could show your receipts on your cellphone. For alcohol and tobacco, I've never been required to show the receipts in over 10 years of cross border purchases. If the border agents want to waste their own time - be my guest.

Typically, this forum doesn't promote not following national laws: However, it seems fair to not that having traveled extensively for over four decades, and always bringing tobacco with me when I do, I have never had an incident regarding the actual amount of tobacco I brought wihth me. There was that one time I was taken by an armed escort in Peru to open up my suitcase so they could point out a suspicious pouch. Upon opening it, they decried, "It's pipe tobacco." And I was escorted back to my plane, no damages.
That said, the best way to ensure that tobacco stays with you is to just simply pack it. Unless you are on some watch list, the chances of being searched are slim - so long as you don't argue with customs. I use to worry about these things. I stopped worrying a long time ago. The world is too busy to be concerned with me.

Sure but Meta could choose to simply pay the news outlets but because they’re beholden to the almighty dollar and literally nothing else, they choose to constrict Canadian’s online experience instead. Capitalism, not communism.

Yes the FB article rules, News articles that can’t get shared, are a dispute with government over paying royalties to news organizations, and Meta won’t pay.. You can make the case either way, but I’m shocked it hasn’t been resolved yet, that is bad for users, I haven’t been on FB much recently so didn’t know.
Bringing too many tins (huge amounts) can be considered tobacco smuggling for commercial purposes and that is a serious crime, but taking maybe 6-8 and declaring them, the worst case is customs will charge you tax on the extra tins, but if you declare likely won’t, I know people who get by, by declaring. 4 without a receipt is nothing…

The cheapest tobacco in the USA is $52 for five pounds, or 2240 grams. The current exchange rate is about 74 cents Canadian to USA dollar.
If you got caught, or if you declared it, the tax would be $450 Canadian (rounded).
If you want to be a smuggler might as well smuggle the better stuff.
The hardest bitten leather tongued addict like me, cannot smoke 25 pounds of tobacco a year.
25 pounds of Lane 1-Q is less than a thousand dollars US and Buoy ain’t too bad at all for $260.
Current leaf prices paid to farmers is about $2-3 per pound.
The Canadian taxes on 25 pounds of tobacco are about $2,250 Canadian, again rounded up.
Compare with cigarettes. In Missouri a carton of Marlboros costs nearly $75 and there are a lot of carton a week smokers who spend about $4,000 a year for their habit.
A can of Capstan is $27.50 Canadian and the tax is another $10 (close).
For what all the devoted cigarrete smokers spend you could smoke a couple of tins a week and pay the taxes.
Missouri has one of if not the lowest tax rates on tobacco in the entire civilized world. I can match or beat the online prices in brick and mortar stores.
The worst thing about Canada’s taxes is Buoy is taxed the same per gram as Capstan.
There have been excise taxes on tobacco for centuries, all over the world.
I don’t think any should be a bit more than what the price of the leaf brings the farmer, but I’m not in charge, you know?

If only Canada customs actually used this chart… I stopped ordering tobacco from the US because they were charging me $250+ on every order. I never ordered over 200 grams. I had them re-assess one of my orders and they reduced the tax to $50 which I can live with… but since then they just send my orders back to the vendor when I ask for a reassessment. Then I get to pay the restocking fee and shipping all over again if I actually want my order… and the over inflated taxes of course. It’s extortion I tell ya!
Are they just weighing the whole box and deducing a price, or randomly saying that pipe tobacco coming across the boarder is just $250, because maybe they don't understand how tobacco sales work? Or, maybe I am giving this all more thought than they do...
