    Meerschaum Sure Colors Weirdly

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see it as a golden brown turning to shiny black. Perfect for a dragon's claw, but I guess some people just don't like the color brown

    Meerschaum Sure Colors Weirdly

Nope, usually hold it by the two talons on the side which are still white. No buttons, filters, or anything else in the bowl. Maybe it's my imagination, but I think it started coloring slightly faster after a few gurgling bowls of slightly wet tobacco in the past month? Hard to say, TBH

    Yup, bought it brand new

    Meerschaum Sure Colors Weirdly

Had this Fikri Baki dragonclaw for a few years now (shoutout to Rich at Briarville for the great new stem - when the original broke, he made a fantastic replacement). Super weird coloring, the deep brown stops in weird places while moving along others. Just the fun of chasing the white...

How Many Times a Day can You Smoke a Pipe

I heard that Briar pipes needed time to dry out, especially if smoked heavily; never smoked my briars enough to find out, TBH. Meerschaum, OTOH, can be smoked all day every day being a clay; it doesn't absorb moisture, IIRC (or maybe it does and dries out super quick?)

Are You a Pipe Smoker or a Pipe Collector?

I only buy what I intend to smoke, and I only smoke what strikes my fancy, a pipe that really catches my eye. Not opposed to having 50 pipes, but I have about 4, 2 of which I smoke daily because they're my favorites. Not sure what that makes me

    Tongue Bite Syndrome

I stopped getting tongue bite once I let my tobacco dry out, either in a dish for an hour or two before smoking, or just open the tin, drop in the humidor, and forget about it for 2 weeks as it acclimates - no drying time needed after that.

Pipe Recommendation ($500-$700 range) Special Occasion

Can get a beautiful meerschaum for around $300-$400, depending on the carver and intricacy. I like browsing Meerschaum Market sometimes, lotta nice stuff on there. Fikri Baki is on AliExpress, search for "TuWun Meerschaum Pipe Store", they're the exclusive dealer for Fikri

Staying Hydrated! What is Your Ideal RH for Non—Aromatics?

Crept in because I misinterpreted the difference between RH and AH and couldn't delete or edit my posts :p My humi is probably around 65%/75F during the day, 65/70 at night. Fresh tin tobacco starts smoking pretty great without any drying after about 2 weeks in it

Staying Hydrated! What is Your Ideal RH for Non—Aromatics?

Bleh, can't edit the above post. Wanted to re-word it to make it more clear because I messed up a bit and got some stuff wrong. RH is the humidity at whatever temperature the air is at, "The amount of water vapor in the air, expressed as a percentage of the maximum amount that the air could...

Staying Hydrated! What is Your Ideal RH for Non—Aromatics?

I just store opened tins in my humidor. Some heartfelt 65% beads, RH is around 60-70%, so even wet tobaccos get pretty close to perfect after 2 weeks in there. Maybe toss in a bowl of water if the humi is getting low on tobacco, since an empty humi can fluctuate wildly compared to a full one...

    Favorite Steak Marinade

For meat, you need a few things. A salt/sodium to draw out the moisture An oil to dissolve aromatics in, so when the water the salt draws out is reabsorbed, it carries the flavors with it back into the steak If its a tough cut, or you're doing a short marinade, an acid/something with enzymes to...

Is that a Good Option for Cigar Storage/Aging?

Yeah, wineadors are great, basically big fancy tupperdors or coolerdors. Ages ago I converted a cheap $100 wine cooler into a humi. Took out the wine trays, bought some spanish cedar from a lumber store and just made my own shelves. Worked like a charm - the refrigeration should provide all...

    New Piper. Bitter, Ashy taste

Lotta good advice so far. One thing I haven't seen mentioned that helped me is, sip on the pipe like you're sipping a fine bourbon. Keeping the fire just barely lit, on the razors edge. If it goes out, just relight. I don't always do this, but keeping it in mind will slow you down and help...

What Stems does Fikri Baki Use?

Definitely, it's still my favorite briar & go-to after all these years. So anyone have know what material it is, or suggestions for what material to replace the Fikri pipe with? I'm more than a little disappointed it gave out on me since I don't chew or even hold them with my teeth since it...
