    Dunhill Identification

Thank you for the fast answer! The thing about the stem is that the bite feels quite thick between the teeth, and rouded, whereas the other ones are flatter. But maybe it is just variation due to different production periods. I guess I'm a bit paranoid because I got it for a very good price for...

    Dunhill Identification

So i got this Dunhill because I really liked the blast and shape (and the price was right). But I am puzzled as it has no stampings on the briar, only on the silver mount and all there is is "Dunhill made in England" on one side and "70" on the underside. Can the experts give some insight on the...

    Do You Smoke Clay Pipes?

Chioggiotta pipes are really nice. They come from Chioggia, a city near Venice. Made of terracotta and cherrywood for the stem. http://www.pipachioggiotta.it/shop

    What Does Latakia Taste Like?

@timt I get a nice incense vibe out of Samuel Gawith's Skiff Mixture, my most smoked tobacco by the way. For a fuller smoke mix it 50/50 with Commonwealth and let it sit a few weeks, one of the rare really good home blends (I'm not the inventor).

    Pipe Storage - Drawers...

@dave g that's a treasure chest, not a drawer! Sorry for being curious, but what pipes are the one at the bottom with silver band, looking a bit like a Savinelli 101, and the little straight spigot at the utmost right?

Clean Your Briar Pipes the "New Way".

Came to this thread after the recent experimentations about pipes and water in the forum. I must say that I like the flushing idea, but am trying to decide between leaving the stem on or removing it... Does the water oxydize or dull the ebonite? Does the mortise get a better cleaning without...

Anyone Ever Smoke a Cigar in a Pipe?

The national cigar in Italy, the Sigaro Toscano, is known to have been smoked in pipe since a long time. It is in its essence a working-class cigar made by machine of italian Kentucky leaf (the wrapper is American Kentucky) which has been fermented. People smoke them whole or halved (they are...

My two: A small Belvedere square panel (pot?), I love foursquares 8) And this stacked dublin. The stem is a mystery, it has no markings...I suspect it is a replacement, but if so it is a very well made one.

    Greetings from Tuskany

@jazz sadly the tobacco selection In Italy is not wery wide (thank goodness we have Samuel Gawith and their 250g bulks) but as pipes go in Siena there is Il Chiasso Largo and Castellana in Firenze. If you come by the coastal region you could visit the workshop of Andrea Gigliucci. A detour out...

@enricon I'm not Senese, either, just studying there. But the Palio is captivating none the less! On a side note, I just went to Firenze for the weekend, I love that city!
