Securing plastic part in Meer bowl shank.
I’m not sure how toxic that stuff might be—if possible, I’d avoid its use. Generally, this is not necessary for Meerschaum pipes—you just need to remember to twist the stem clockwise to remove it. Going counterclockwise is most likely why it is unscrewing.- TheIronMonkey
