Smokers Haven Blends Up For Preorder.

There is a lot of mis-information about the relationship between esoterica and smokers haven. To the best of my knowledge this is what happened. Penzance was modeled after our Krumble Kake in the late 1980's but there is a difference in the recipie. Here is what actually happened: Back in the...

Different pipe makers and the weight of their pipes

Lonestar's example is the reality of the weight. Materials are the number one factor in a pipes weight. Certain varieties of briar tend to be lighter than others and also stem material can vary in weight dramatically.

Pipe makers that are no longer making pipes

Adam is making pipes full time and he is back in Arizona. Kurt Huhn was always part time making pipes and he may be doing a few here and there. John Crosby also has always been part time. He is an Engineer by trade. I see him on occassion on the PMF Google Hangouts. He makes a pipe once in a...

    Inexpensive pipes with 5/32 airways?

Bigpond, There is nothing to worry about. The good news is that if the fluffy cleaner is pinching where it meets the slot in your good smoking 5/32" airway pipes, a well done 9/64" airway pipe will also smoke very good for you. Maybe even better. I did a lot of testing before I started selling...

    Inexpensive pipes with 5/32 airways?

Try something out when you have a chance. On one of your 5/32" drilled pipe stems, slowly push a BJ long's Fluffy cleaner through the tenon hole and when there is alot of pressure where you would have to really force it through, mark it and pull it back out. If it stopped right where the slot...

Another Revival Of The Great And Contentious Bowl Coating Debate

I probably should stay clear of this subject, but there is some information that is missing that I would like to share. The most important reason for me, and other pipe makers I have had the privilege to work with, to bowl coat is to prevent burnout on the first light. The second reason is for...

    Critique please.

I would suggest to cut off as much possible from the bottom to leave about 3/8" thickness or more. Also angle the bottom just a little forward.

    Smokers Haven Krumble kake

I think there was already a few Latakia Flakes being made well before the 1950's, but Krumble Kake was the first Cake or "Krumble Kake" Leaf is Cut first, then pressed, then cut again.

where to buy pipes with wider airflow?

I cannot speak for all individual makers, but the ones I have worked with all open the slot properly to the airway at either 5/32 or 9/64. If the transition from slot to airway is done correctly, a 9/64 airway is very open and can be better than an improperly done 5/32 airway.

    Smokers Haven Krumble kake

misterlowercase, Thank you! I am so sorry that there is this little bump in the road right now with the retail location. All of the pipe makers that I have worked with and been able to help are good people, and they are all much more talented than I am at pipe making. I am blessed to have been...
