    Quiet Nights Help...

For me Quiet Nights and Haddo's both are ok when fresh but become something really special after 3+ years of aging. And neither are a blend type I would typically gravitate to. But yeah, if you're looking for a straight up English or something with the Latakia as a prominent player then QN...

    This Week's Restorations

Is that a sandblasted Dunhill panel at the top left?

I dig historical pipes and may grab a sandblast if I find some grain that I like.

How Hard is it to Burnout a Pipe?

As others have said, outside of a hidden flaw it is exceedingly rare. I've bought well over a hundred estate pipes and even the worst looking overflowing cake lava pipes are fine underneath all the cake. That said, I got a group of pipes recently where every single one was toast inside. They...

Show Us Your Ferndown/ L.Wood Pipee

I love the five Ferndowns I have. Always looking for another to add to the collection. The 1 star Dublin and spigot on the left are more normal group 4 sized pipes while the billiards on the right are quite chunky and the 3 Star in the middle is a serious piece of briar.

Stupid Things You Notice About Yourself?

Eh, relatively speaking we're all on this earth a very short time. Maybe by enjoying pipe tobacco I'll have a slightly shorter time on this planet as a result. Or maybe I get hit by a bus tomorrow. Or maybe the reduced stress or by occupying my idle time by smoking instead of eating or drinking...

This, but any straight Pete, system or not. I'm always looking for more!

The Ugly Side of Buying Estate Pipes

I had some bad luck recently with an eBay lot. Pictures weren't terrible and description seemed to indicate they were salvageable. When they arrived it was the worst burnout in a bowl I've ever personally seen. It wasn't all the way through but it looked like the previous owner lit their pipes...

First Time Seeking This Peterson De Luxe Series

Both of the ones I have are Premier Selection and have the chimneys.

First Time Seeking This Peterson De Luxe Series

I've got some Peterson Deluxe pipes but none with a threaded stem tenon like that. I assume it's for a chimney like the Premier line had, here's one on one of my Pete straight premiers.

    “Strange Terms”

I'd agree to all kinds of strange terms for any old straight Pete 🤣 great to see the generosity of this forum continuing. Truly the pay it forward mentality is what makes this hobby special. I've received and given all kinds of tobacco and pipes with those terms. Sometimes it's to close friends...

    McClelland English/Ori/Scottish

14 is the lat heaviest one and as such I think the orientals and virginia are overshadowed. I enjoy 1 and 8 as well but agree 6 and 12 are both exceptional. All the virginia/oriental blends I've had from McClelland have been excellent. Balkan Blue and 3 Oaks Syrian were some of my favorite...

2025 Peterson Halloween Pipes Just Dropped

I like the all black look but don't need any more bent pipes. If they had a straight system pipe in the lineup I'd probably be searching for the best blast right now. There's some good looking blasts from my quick perusing.

Would You Rather - Pipe/Tobacco Edition

Having smoked the same pipe for all my numerous bowls in one day, it's not bad but I'd rather have the option to have a fresh pipe for each bowl of the day. Same tobacco wouldn't be bad, I can think of about a dozen McClelland blends that I'd happily smoke all day every day for the rest of my life.
