How Hard is it to Burnout a Pipe?
As others have said, outside of a hidden flaw it is exceedingly rare. I've bought well over a hundred estate pipes and even the worst looking overflowing cake lava pipes are fine underneath all the cake. I love the five Ferndowns I have. Always looking for another to add to the collection. The 1 star Dublin and spigot on the left are more normal group 4 sized pipes while the billiards on the right are quite chunky and the 3 Star in the middle is a serious piece of briar.- skydog

The Ugly Side of Buying Estate Pipes
I had some bad luck recently with an eBay lot. Pictures weren't terrible and description seemed to indicate they were salvageable. When they arrived it was the worst burnout in a bowl I've ever personally seen. It wasn't all the way through but it looked like the previous owner lit their pipes... -

McClelland English/Ori/Scottish
14 is the lat heaviest one and as such I think the orientals and virginia are overshadowed. I enjoy 1 and 8 as well but agree 6 and 12 are both exceptional. All the virginia/oriental blends I've had from McClelland have been excellent. Balkan Blue and 3 Oaks Syrian were some of my favorite...- skydog

2025 Peterson Halloween Pipes Just Dropped
I like the all black look but don't need any more bent pipes. If they had a straight system pipe in the lineup I'd probably be searching for the best blast right now. There's some good looking blasts from my quick perusing. -
Would You Rather - Pipe/Tobacco Edition
Having smoked the same pipe for all my numerous bowls in one day, it's not bad but I'd rather have the option to have a fresh pipe for each bowl of the day. Same tobacco wouldn't be bad, I can think of about a dozen McClelland blends that I'd happily smoke all day every day for the rest of my life. -
