    What are You Reading Now?

Absolutely one of my favorite authors. Good old fashioned SF. :)

    Proposed UK tobacco ban

Man! I have to say this a damn refreshing conversation. Even civilized! I am sick to death of the partisan arguments, violence, authoritarianism, liberal loonies and all the rest. Just let me smoke my pipe in peace!

What Was Your First "I Gotta Buy 5 Pounds of This Stuff!" Tobacco?

LOL! Recently, as in the past year or so, 5 pounds of GL Pease Quiet Nights, 4 lbs of Autumn Evening, 5lbs of "Larry's Blend", and 4lb of Peters Norwegian. I figure with the great and inevitable disruption of society, I will darned if I have to grow my own pipe tobacco. ;)

Thriving in the Upcoming Tobacco Apocalypse

Oh, I tend to do my best work with guns meant for self-defense. Sigs are my favorites. I have been building some ARs lately, too. Lately, people have been asking for the easiest upgrade ever. If you have a P365 with the 3.1" barrel, buy an X-Macro handgrip and a Radian Ramjet/Afternurner. Total...

Thriving in the Upcoming Tobacco Apocalypse

Well, as a kid I cropped tobacco one summer. Uh, I think those of you growing your own are brave souls, but as for me? If I can't buy or trade for tobacco, I might have to give it up. I will *never* crop tobacco again, not enough soap in the world to convince me to do so. On the other paw...

What Happens When You Put the Pipe Down?

I guess we are all more alike than we are different. I do not think pipe smoking is physically addictive, not in the same way as cigs are at least.

Are we Really Losing That Much With the Closures of Mac Baren and Sutliff?

I kinda like Sutcliff's rather unique blends, but let's be real. Small custom blenders will step in and produce clone blends of anything that sells. I dont think we will be suffering much. Well, except maybe in the budget. Two tins a month instead of three. ;) Just my $0.02. YMMV!

    Sun Bear Black Locust

Oh boy - is that good stuff. I have a tin here I am rationing out. ;)

Experiment with Nicotine Patches and Pipe Smoking

Congratulations! How is your process proceeding? No matter what anyone says, you gotta do what you feel is the right thing to do. I might try adding a couple of excellent mild cigars in the mix if the patches don't work well enough for you. ;) I would recommend the Ashton cordials. If you...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

i actually just ordered one of those, and expect to enjoy it. I do think they tend to gurgle a bit if smoked hard and fast, but a good tamping seems to help. Just a novice point of view though. :)

Please Compare Appalachian and English Mixtures

That makes sense, though I try to stay away from heavy Perique blends. I didn't realize that might be the taste I like. I have also been trying to stay away from the Virginia and Kentucky heavy blends. I'm a wuss. I enjoy smoking a pipe, but I sure don't want to get lightheaded or, worse...

Please Compare Appalachian and English Mixtures

I have tried (and loved) some "English" mixtures, like GL Pease Quiet Nights and Chelsea Mornings, and some "Appalachian" blends, like C&D Blue Ridge and String Duster. In general, I seem to like the "English" blends better, but I have been mildly puzzled trying to understand the differences...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2024?***

Settling down for a nice bowl of Cornnell & Diehl's Small Batch Sun Bear Black Locust. I love this stuff, but reserve it for especially trying days, since I didn't buy enough of it when I had the chance. :)
