    How to Date Esoterica Tobaccos?

Yes, there are normally 4 numbers preceding the letter. In this case there are only 3, so the 8 and the C both line up to 2018

For How Long Will a Scented Gawith Be Good in Its Box?

I am more cautious. I have had several of the plastic films tear due to shipping so I inspect immediately. If the film is intact, I would feel comfortable with several months, but not much longer. I had set a box aside and forgot about it for a year. When I jarred it, the plug was noticeably...

Too Many Open Jars/Tins In Rotation?

When I went crazy in my sampling and evaluating phase, I opened every tin to try. Ergo, technically I have around 500 open jars, with about 50 in regular rotation. My wife says I have a problem.

    How to Date Esoterica Tobaccos?

Covid seemed to throw a wrench in the system, but generally followed this pattern. As someone who has bought from retailers at release for the last 5 years, this is the pattern I saw from Esoterica and Germain... Date codes: second number is the number of the year. I.e. 1234 would be 2022...

    How to Date Esoterica Tobaccos?

The second digit tends to line up with the last digit of the calendar year as well. So 5 would be 2025. I have definitely seen them anticipate selling for the following year but push it out early. In this case, I have seen "5 M's" as early as fall of 2024.

Advise: Can’t Taste Pipe Tobacco After Chest Infection

I recently had Covid and lost most of my taste and smell. What worked QUITE well both times is taking Hylands Bioplasma cell salts. ("All 12 cell salts"). The newer size is like a small aspirin, take 1 under the tongue in the morning until things get better. If your taste drifts off again...

Peterson Flake: My Palate or Truly Terrible?

I have it under Dunhill (probably 2012 or 2013) and more recent and I dislike them both. I am fairly particular in my tobaccos. I do pick up a cigarette quality sometimes. In other news, I also dislike 95% of anything made by Cornell & Diehl.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2025?***

Tonight's bowl was SG Best brown in a Stanwell. I won't mention my previous few smokes as I had covid and it messed up my olfactory. Every bowl I attempted tasted like wet burning cardboard. This bowl tasted 70% normal with a hint of cardboard. I'm heading in the right direction. This was...

I disagree, I think Peacehaven is very similar to Medium Flake.

Best Esoterica/Germain’s Blends I Should Buy?

Peacehaven is the most difficult to find. I have been hunting it for 5 years with no luck.

How Many Blends Do You Have in Rotation?

My answer will probably give some of you anxiety. To answer the original question of how many in current rotation, I'd venture a guess of 100. I have somewhere between 400-500 jars of blends. The jars I gravitate to are in my "tuhbaccy station" and the rest are pushed aside and receive little...
