How Do You Organize Your Tobacco Cellar?

Spreadsheet that includes the tote number where the item is stored. Took some time to put it together, but once I had that it has been easy to update. I hate guessing at what I have.

    WTB - Sutliff 507-S Stoved Virginia 08.25.2025

Going to see if I can scare some up here before attempting to make my own, which has high odds of a complete disaster. Looking for a minimum of 4 oz, max of 8 oz.

Thanks Jim, great stuff! Good thing that we have some interviews of you too! Did you ever wrangle an interview from Steve Ditko?

Flavoring in Plum Pudding Bourbon Barrel Aged?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can tell you that the flavoring was way too strong for me right out of the tin. I took the block of wood out and let the tobacco sit in the tin until it was fairly dry, at which point the flavoring had dissipated to the point that it was an...

Easiest (Best?) Way to Cook Bacon

Electric skillet, precursor to the microwave. Just set the dial to the recommended temperature for bacon (written on the handle) and it's perfect every time. Pretty quick too. Once it's done, eggs fried in the bacon grease are great. The lid keeps the grease contained and the nonstick surface...

What Are You Listening To - April, 2025

Grateful Dead Europe '72 - The Complete Recordings. The whole freaking thing on Spotify. Wish that I'd had the brains to buy it back in 2011. I'm currently up to Volume 8. Here's the Wikipedia link: Europe_'72:_The_Complete_Recordings

I'm confused about the difference between casing and cavendish.

A friend of mine sent me this link to a companion book by the same author. Both are excellent. https://fairtradetobacco.com/threads/book-ninety-more-pipe-blends-download-free-book.11103/

    Favorite Whole Album

For fans of the Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization (and Bill Evans). Big influence on the development of modal jazz, including Miles Davis and Kind of Blue.

    How Many Open Blends?

Approaching 100, but only around 6 that I hit on a regular basis. The rest I view like a library, always there for reference with certain ones going in and out of favor over time. The variety of tobacco is one of the things that I like about pipe smoking.

Big Chief Electric Smoker Any Good?

I have a Little Chief. Probably had it for 35 years and it still works great. I just use it for smoking salmon. It doesn't perform well in cold, wet weather. You also have to use their proprietary shredded wood. I also have a Brinkmann Smoke 'n Grill water smoker that apparently isn't made any...
