Sour pipe bad, sour tobacco good?

Yep, and it is not my thing at all. First time I encountered it I thought maybe my pipe was ruined, or in need of a deep clean.

Sour pipe bad, sour tobacco good?

Good point. There are (at least) two different kinds of sour. Sour milk vs a lemon, for example. Maybe that's the answer right there, haha.

Sour pipe bad, sour tobacco good?

Does anyone care to help me reconcile why it is we can appreciate sour notes in our pipe tobacco, but must never allow a pipe to sour? I get that a sour pipe is a bad thing, as it will impart a sour taste to everything smoked in it. At least with sour tobaccos one can choose not to smoke them...

Me: I got a new pipe Forum member: nice one! You: those pipes have SERIOUS issues Me: Really? This is the first I’m hearing about these issues. You: I NEVER SAID THEY HAVE ISSUES That’s obviously oversimplified and exaggerated for effect, but it sure seems like you came in here trying to stir...

I enjoy them and have had zero issues. I’m honestly not sure what the heck you’re trying to tell us, but I’ll defend to the death your right to keep trying 👍😘

All I’m saying is I reckon we’d see more complaints around here if stems were regularly breaking on folks’ $400-$1000+ Castello pipes. Good on you for repairing these fine pipes when issues do arise though.

Just want to touch on a couple more aspects of this pipe I chose (or has it chosen me?) Finish: sea rock is regarded as the lowest grade finish that Castello offers, which makes it the most affordable—But it’s honestly my favorite finish they offer. Rusticated finishes feel more interesting to...

All my current pipes are Italian. I don’t have many these days… just one Savinelli, two by Rossi, and now this handsome Castello. It came from a shop in Italy, and it didn’t come cheap—even before the 20% tariff DHL charged me before they would deliver. A few years back I had a virgin sea rock...

Good to know. My price of $140 breaks down to about $25 per 1.75oz tin, plus a free 3oz of bulk VRC, and $15 for USPS Priority shipping. Considering all of these blends (except Bruno) are out of production, I feel the price is good. I think it would cost at least this much if you could still...
