***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Here I am sitting this evening updating my master database before retiring. And in logging the 2 oz purchase of this, the wonderful Old Dominion, made me realize I really need to stop screwing around and buy this fine tobacco in larger amounts. Smoking my Bing.

Looking For A Boswell's Countryside Replacement For A Daily Smoke

I too like Countryside. Because of the Lat-Oriental feature, I would suggest Stokkebye English Oriental Supreme, Newminster English Oriental, or possibly Sutliff's English Oriental. All reasonable bulk blends.

    Savinelli 🐊

Yeah, I guess you have a point there, thanks!

    My Grandpa

Nice story. My grandfather also had the PA and SWR tins sitting on top his old Silvertone radio that sat right side his personal armchair. Many, many, many memories of him smoking PA and I myself love it so it must run in the family.

    Savinelli 🐊

I acquired one about four years ago, great pipe for enjoying my assorted Virginias. The only thing I will tell you is that some of the coloring has faded, and I am OCDish about taking care of my pipes.

    How Many Open Blends?

Don't think me awful but I have well over 400 different blends in my cellar, some jarred, some tinned. I would guess that all combined between large jars and small ones, at least 300 I am thinking open? Too many yes, I know but I do like trying different ones. My daily regulars are just a couple...

Absolute Mildest Nicotine With Latakia and/or Orientals

I am always going to suggest my beloved Stokkebye English Oriental Supreme as a milder Lat/Oriental featured blend. Actually, any of Stokkebye's English may fit your need. There are many others out there, too many to account for but I will also mention Boswell'. They also make a couples of...

    Thoughts on a Second Pipe

Country Gentleman is perhaps MM best made pipe IMO, I have more than several of them. If it were me I would spend the money on a nice entry-mid level briar. But again, paying over $15-$20 for a cob is something I will not do. Look to Rossi, Ropp, Savinelli, Baraccini or maybe a basic Peterson...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

A fair share of excitement is building this morning with a smoking bowl of Russ’ Sunjammer and thoughts of Saturday’s big event. BOILER UP BROTHERS!!!

Paul's Pipe Shop Louisiana Coffee is a good one.

    Stoving Tobacco and Thoughts?

Stoving definitely seasons the tobacco and advances its flavorsomeness, especially VAs.

    Need Some Advice, Please!

First of all I suffer from excessive TAD. I only review the tobacco's specification and do not seek others' opinions. If the questioned tobacco's description, as far as the recipe goes, is something that seems appealing to me I will purchase it. Not always winner but many times, yes they are.

My First Ever MM Corn Cob.

Cobs are great and require very little maintenance. That projection is standard for the cob's construction. You are fine to leave it alone. I do find, however, that some dottle tends to collect underneath if the gap between it and the bowl bottom is significant. Typically with a new pipe. I just...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Just woke up from an afternoon nap. A year’s end extended PTO, and the eighth day of restfulness to get right back into the crap for 2024. December 2027 cannot come fast enough. Restocked the active rotational jar of Hal O’ The Wynd and am trying one of those weirdo organic teas that my oldest...

Which GL Pease Should I Buy?

Haddo's Delight is a nice one as well.
