Knowledge on Local Ordinances Houghton MI?
If the OP doesn't have any good parks, or outdoors venues, they might try the local cigar lounges for a smoking venue. Join the club, make friends, work remote, that sort of thing. Looks like there are a few options in Houghton MI- Jacob74

Stem taste like smoke/ash
As Timekiller suggested, you might be puffing a little extra, which can burn the tobacco too hot and result in unpleasant, ashy, smok flavors.
