Which Other Italian Brand Uses 10 Year Old Briar?

As @ak2000 said, Moretti claims to use briar that is at least 10 years old. I am a big fan of Moretti pipes and have owned and smoked them for well over 20 years. And I also own 4 Moretti morta pipes, which I think are great as well, and a great value.

    Bubinga Wood (?)

Back around 1977 when I was working in the Tinder box in northwest Ohio. The owner of the shop purchased several bubinga pipes. I bought one and it smoked so hot (to the touch and the tongue) that I quickly gave it away to someone--but I don't remember who that was. I don't recommend them...

Hi Mike! We simply must sit down and share a bowl of 1992 Sophisticate. I am very happy to hear that you agree with me re how simply incredible that tobacco is and how the later iterations of it never equaled the original. And as for the Nutcracker Flake, hardly anyone EVER mentions that one...

George, I think that with the post above you have truly crossed the threshold from mundane pipe smoking into quantum pipe science. The sky is the limit!!! And what I mean by that is that by the time you are done with this research, we will be able enjoy pipes that are no longer limited by space...

Well, after that great quantum analysis of pipes, I now realize that I am going to have to bow to George as well! ;) But here is the question: Is a pipe a particle or a wave? And when you "observe" the smoking of a pipe, does the pipe itself change due to the observation? Or does the smoker...

My thanks to George, Mike, and Mr. Trout for their kind words. I hope to see you all at the shows when they return! And thanks also to Mr. Chicken. I am pleased that you found the podcast on existential therapy and listened to it, and apparently stayed awake! Glad to hear you liked it.

Hello Jon. Regarding the list that you duplicated in your post above, you once again astonish me with your surpassing insight and integrative, dialectical, metacognitive ability in recognizing that those seemingly different occupations on the list are indeed synonymous, and each of them requires...

Jon Guss is a tremendously talented fellow. His considerable power of creativity was obviously hard at work in the post above, to create an integration of the history of pipe smoking and the rich and time honored tradition of existentialism. Very few people could have done this and make it sound...

    Charatan Supreme "Auxiliary Stem" Project

I confess to being the owner of this now greatly enhanced Charatan Supreme. I agree with you all in your praise of George and I believe unequivocally that George's new stem for this circa 1963 Supreme is nothing short of a masterpiece. This pipe is such a great smoker that it was tragic to have...

    Charatan Summa Cum Laude

Thank you kenbarnes for sharing that great information. This is very valuable knowledge for me and no doubt many more of us who are Charatan lovers. What an exciting time period that must have been. It would be a great experience to be in the same room as yourself, Barry, and Dick, listening to...

    Charatan Summa Cum Laude

Hello all. And greetings to kenbarnes. That is a tremendous Summa. Thank you for sharing that photo. You and your father are legends in the pipe world. I remember holding a huge Summa Cum Laude that was the centerpiece of a large Charatan show held at Smoker's Haven in Columbus back around 1977...
