My first pipe order what do the experts think?

 A huge +1 to what bigvan said. On topic: we have experts here? When did this happen?

    Sutliff Private Stock; Great Outdoors

The tin note had a sort of "berry" scent to me. Maybe grapes like Spartan suggests. This blend didnt really taste like anything to me. It was almost like hot steam coming through the bit. No flavor, just hot air. Romanza mentioned it burned hot, thats an understatement. Even slow, careful...

    Peterson Deluxe 608S help (pics)

Not really sure what you're wanting to know. Are you confused about the 608s? Its just a shape they're not currently producing. From your picture it looks like a pot shape with a taller bowl than the currently produced 606 pot. The "s" I've noticed, usually appears on pipes with saddle stems. Im...

Sight ban in effect in UK

How does this affect tobacconists? As long as they're under the restricted square-footage they're good to go? Are stores allowed to have any indication that they carry tobacco at all? Watch closely what's happening in the UK, fellow Americans. We're next.

    Lighters vs. Matches

I prefer to light my pipe on naturally occurring wild fires. However, this method is difficult to employ while driving. I use my Corona Old Boy as back-up.

What do you not leave the house without?

:laughat: @simnettpratt I see what you did there

What do you not leave the house without?

I never leave the house without my body armor, black balaclava, 200 rounds of 7.62x39 fmj, ak-47, ballistic helmet, and my yo-yo. God knows I can't live without my yo-yo. And my pipe. That too.

Attention All Pete-Nuts: When Will The LE Blends Be Availabel?

That Hyde Park sounds pretty darn good. I didn't jump into any of last year's limited edition blends. Some of them are actually still available if you look around. Depending on what they do I might check them out. I thin the "Dracula" pipes are kind of neat. Definitely outside the norm for...

Should I be upset with my local B&M

Figured id chime in as someone from the other side if the counter. I don't work a B&M, but I do work in a liquor store. Very similar philosophies. Both have very low end stuff they shell out everyday, and both have high end artisanal, craft, specialty items for the connosieur. I consider myself...

    Smoking Down to the Heel

I gotta admit, there's something very satisfying about dumping out nothing but fine dust after a delicious smoke. Some blends do it on their own, some you have to smoke just right, and some leave dottle no matter what you do. It really doesn't matter either way.

    Scottish blends

Awesome cortezattic, clears that up a bit

    Scottish blends

The definition of a Scottish blend eludes me as well. Two blends I've tried carry a supposed connection to a Scottish "style". G.L. Pease Fillmore, a Va/Per, on the tin describes it as a thick sliced broken flake "in the Scottish tradition". I've also tried Gawith, Hogarth Broken Scotch Cake...

What do you do to your pipe?

I saw the title of this thread and thought: I smoke the damn thing! What do YOU do with it?

    Yashtylov Poker Nosewarmer

Im with ace57. Definitely looks like it'd smoke hot. Neat blast on it.
