    Does Anyone Else do This?

This gave me a good laugh, and my girlfriend, too. She's obsessed with naval lint, although doesn't collect it as for as I know. About saving dottle, it's not for re-smoking. Seems a lot of folks thought that's what I meant. I noticed when I smoke a bowl too far down, and end up smoking the...

    Does Anyone Else do This?

I have a big glass jar, a nice thing with rips running up the sides. It narrows on the bottom and becomes somewhat bulbus at the top with a glass lid and a knob at the top. But inside I have, filled to the brim, dottle which I've been collecting. I'll post a picture sometime to show you exactly...

What Happens When You Put the Pipe Down?

I haven't had a puff in four days. Day two, I felt a bit tired, but not too bad. Day three, less tired. Day four, I feel energetic, though I'm still putting the pipe in my mouth a bit for the sake of habit. I really enjoy smoking my pipes. Every once in a while, maybe every six months or so, I...

Do different pipe shapes work well, or not so well, with different tobaccos?

I have six pipes, and so far, my choices have been purely for aesthetic reasons when choosing shapes, but I was wondering, do different bowl types lend themselves to better experiences based on certain types of tobaccos? For instance, what might a short wide bowl be good for vs a tall bowl? I...

How long to clay and corn cobs last?

Being late to the pipe smoking scene, I happen to already be familiar with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I'm pretty good at babying things. I might have better luck. So, regarding clay pipes, how do you clean them? Any special considerations?

How long to clay and corn cobs last?

Any tips of thoughts on that?

How long to clay and corn cobs last?

Excellent. I need to get some cobs. As a newer pipe smoker, I've felt they're the "all American" choice for pipes.

How long to clay and corn cobs last?

Thinking about getting some of these, but I'm not the "disposable" type, so I was wondering how long, if treated well, do these pipes last? Can they last a long time? What would you say is a good way to store a clay pipe to keep it from cracking? Thanks.

I should have posted here earlier! Greetings from Japan!

I've already posted a few times in the forums, but I realized I never came over here to say hello to you all. I'm a new pipe smoker--been at it for about a year now, though as a young teenager I was always interested. Back in the day my dad had a friend who smoked pipes and I always enjoyed...

Newbie question here, but do Meers retain value?

Pretty much what the title says. I'm wondering if meerschaum pipes, if well cared for, hold their value? I'm thinking on buying a $300-400 eagle claw meerschaum that I can call my "flagship" of pipes, so to speak and I'm looking for justifications to help rationalize the purchase. I'm a man who...

    Meerschaum Coloring with Spots?

A lot of good responses here. I did a bit of research before I got this pipe and was expecting a non uniform coloring, I was just surprised with this dark spot. I'm not worried about it. I'm enjoying the pipe quite a bit, just don't like that the shank "screws" in.

    Meerschaum Coloring with Spots?

When I got it it was pearly white, and I didn't put any external heat on it. None that I can see. Not really, because it gets hot fast. I have to hold this one from the stem. I've smoked it probably ten times now? The picture is a bit deceptive. There is definitely some off-white yellowing of...

    Meerschaum Coloring with Spots?

Just saw this was in the Tobacco discussion thread, so moved it here. Is it normal for spots like this to appear? It started out as a translucent spot that started coloring fast, and now there's even a drip stain. I can only guess and say there's a fault in the meerschaum and that area is...
