    Tea and Tobacco

I drink Twinings English and Irish Breakfast teas with my BCA...not a fan of flavored or floral teas, just black blends. I get an Irish Breakfast loose tea blend distributed by Frontier at my local Health Food store, really nice.

    Uneven burn of the tobacco

Any type of lighter or match or wick can work perfectly. Trick is to have the tip of the flame the right distance from the tobacco, and that varies a lot depending on the temp of the flame.

    Uneven burn of the tobacco

What a good article that was mentioned above. Since reading it I have been using matches to light my tobacco and what a difference I am experiencing. After never having smoked anything prior to picking up a pipe, I seemed to be hyper aware of a lingering cigarette-ish odor on me and in the...

    Smoking Yard Debris!

Damn....I couldn't disagree more, just goes to show how different we all are. I bought a pouch of Smoker's Pride Vanilla Cavendish........I was expecting nothing much but was quite surprised by it. Yeah, the flavor is pretty mild by most standards but certainly not bad at all and the room note...

    Suggestions for my first English

Thanks all.....at Smoking Pipes, they have a family or genre called "English Aromatic", I think I'll pick an ounce or two of both the non-aromatics and aro English blends to try.

    Suggestions for my first English

I thought I would try ordering an ounce of a couple of different English blends. Been smoking nothing but BCA (really like that stuff) but thought I would try an English. Keeping lower nicotine in mind....suggestions?

    Uneven burn of the tobacco

The width of my cob is .75" and the width of the Grabow is .75 or just a bit wider.

    Uneven burn of the tobacco

Thanks for the replies....the one thing I would say is after dumping most of that core of ash that forms and re-tamping it's not the same smoke afterwards....it seems anyway. Seems like the ash forms just vertically and does not also expand to the width of the bowl...that's just an observation...

    Uneven burn of the tobacco

I can never get an even burn of the tobacco from top to the bottom of the bowl. There will be a portion of the tobacco that decides to smoke and will burn about clear to the botton....then, I have to dump that ash, try to gently tamp the remaining tobacco flat and start over. Is this normal am...

How Many of You Smoke Indoors?

I found this thread parusing the archives....after being new to pipe smoking or smoking in general, I've found that, while smoking indoors, my rub comes from how the room smells in the hours after smoking, it's just reminiscent of cigarette smoke to me. I love it during the smoke, so it's mostly...

Does Anything Really Smoke Better Than A Cob?

After never having smoked at all, I started recently with cobs and I jut bought a Dr. Grabow briar. I noticed immediately that the briar smoked better, my cobs were leaving some kind of after taste that I did not notice with the briar. I initially thought it was the tobacco but soon realized...

    What Is Everyone Drinking Tonight?

A couple of glasses of Chianti, seems to be very nice with a bowl of BCA.

    First Briar

Well I've only been at this for about a month after never having smoked at all, so I'm just trying some mild aromatics now. I've no interest in stronger nicotine tobaccos, not that the ones you mention are, just sayin. BCA seems to be pretty mild.

    First Briar

I have been smoking Lane BCA....of all the aromatics I've tried, about 10, it's the one I like the most. I would like to have a good cherry as the two I've tried, well not that great (C&D Dark Cherry Cavendish, McClelland Three Cherry Blend). Here are the two pipes that I'm interested in for my...
