My experience so far is that mixtures that doesn't bite taste better with meers filters so I use charcoal filters mostly with blends that contains bright Virginias - eg. Capstan etc. - that usually bite me...

I tried to remove the blue plastic cap of those old 9mm Dr.Pearl - I bought 70 of them sigh - of course with bent pipes... the airflow was better but sometimes some charcoal pellet got out of the filter and clogged the stem so I trashed them and moved on...

Funny enough, I found this version of no longer produced Vauen 9mm in a Colombian shop, they sports a ceramic 12 holes (instead of 9 in the new version) cap on one side and a plastic 12 holes cap on the other...
Good tip! I'll try those Blitz filters but I noticed that some version of their airflow are similar to the Vauen (small holes on the caps) and some other to the Stanwell (an asterisk)...
I too prefer AC Vauen filters for blends that usually bites me and White Elephant mers filters for non-bitey mixtures... I also liked the Stanwell but they're difficult to find on stock.
