Pipe Cleaning Recommendations for Newbies
Whisky alcohol rum vodka all work fine. But if you want a stronger cleaning agent then isopropyl alcohol is better(can't comment on everclear as it's not available where I stay ). For day to day cleaning I use cheap whisky. For deep cleaning I use isopropyl- Bob the bear

So this is merely a thought I had on taste and how we all react differently to different tastes. For instance the herb coriander to me tastes like soap. Can't stand the stuff. Apparently it might be linked to a gene(OR6A2) that some folk have that causes a taste to be interpreted differently and...- Bob the bear

Craft your own pipe?
I've made numerous pipes from pre drilled kits and only one has been iffy . The Molina DIY kits are not bad. And there are many many DIY kits on eBay which consists of a pre drilled block with a stem and all you have to do is finish it off . Some come just as a block . Waxed Vs unwaxed Meerschaums
Why do some Meerschaums come waxed and others don't ? My little lattice work one is unwaxed. Is it a matter of protection for the more elaborately carved pipes or is it a cost issue ? Or something else ?- Bob the bear
