I’ve been smoking a pipe (I used the same one for twenty eight years) for thirty years but only got serious about it a year ago when I stopped smoking hand rolled cigarettes. My favourite cigarette tobacco became unavailable in the UK so I said sod it , time to switch. I’ve never looked back. I thought I was clever knowing what dottle was, boy I had no idea.
