An Interesting Pipe, An Interesting Smoke: As I said I would yesterday, I'll post the initial smoke and a couple of snapshots of my new
Old German Clay Briar Pot.
It's not quite what I expected in a Pot, but it was advertised as one, so a Pot it is. And it is a sweet smoker indeed, in spite of all. First the pics, and analysis underneath. The initial smoke was
Smokers' Pride Black Cavendish, an aro I enjoy very much, both by itself, and as a mixer.
As you can see from the top picture, it's profile is nice indeed but, in the second picture you can see that the stem is more like a Canadian rather than the usual pot, and is also not only long, but oval in shape. The bowl is also very deep. So the long oval stem has to be considered in the break in itself, as part of the bowl.
The smoke was surprisingly delightful for a break-in, and as the pipe is quite capacious and the tobacco favoured by me and a cheap thrill, I've decided that Smoker's Pride Black Cavendish is going to be it. And I don't have a problem with this. So, for this pipe, fait accompli.
I'll try to get back later to do some retrograde commenting 'cause there are some beauties posted today and yesterday, but the doorbell has just arrived and so has the madding hoard.
And, to re-iterate, it is a sweet smoker indeed. I'll enjoy an afternoon hour with SPBC each time this pipe comes up in rotation. Cheers for now.
