Puffing on some Three Nuns in my brand new "I don't need a new pipe but I wanted to try the wintertime reserve so I guess I'll get a new pipe" Peterson Aran paneled acorn. It's a lovely little pipe and it seems to like Virginias so I think we'll get nice and acquainted over this winter. Tomorrow or Friday I'll test out the Nording I got.
I picked up a B42 to get the reserve. Tin art on the Original got me.Just praying that I don't succumb to the same mammonic urging . . . . .
I jarred all the HU with the more prominent DFK and six years has mellowed it to some extent. However, it's still noticeable and doesn't have the balance that the original had, which was superior to the later version.Has been a washout of a day. Has rained "pitchforks and frogs" most of the day.
I decided I was gonna try some of that new tobacco that I recently bought. Really beginning to love all of the HU blends and so I broke out Director's cut. While at first glance it is a VaPer, it has a presence of Kentucky Dark Fired that really adds a nice flavor to the package.
I read @JimInks review and he did an update to the review a few years back that really ring true:
"Update: 12-1-2019. I have noticed in recent productions that the dark fired Kentucky has a stronger presence than it did when I smoked it years ago. There's less perique in the blend now, possibly to save a few needed dollars. Whatever their motive, it's now a VaKyPer, rather than a VaPerKy."
I never had the earlier presentation of this blend, but what I smoked this morning definitely had a prominent Ky influence. Really a delicious flavor and I know I will enjoy this for a while. I had it in my Castello 55.
