Another Texas Pipe Show find, this one a “seconds” Devil Anse from Mark Domingues AKA Lone Star Briar.
Mark took the time to point out the minor flaws that led him to sell this pipe at a discount, and while I understand his professional reservation to place his “stamp of approval” on this pipe, I can tell that a lot of hard work, careful thought, and delicate execution went into the creation of this pipe, and despite its minor cosmetic flaw it smokes very, very well. For its maiden voyage, some of my own Va/Per mixture. IMG_9424.jpegIMG_9425.jpeg
Also, my good buddy is smoking his pipe which he bought today at the show, a figural meerschaum - an excellent and ambitious first ever pipe purchase - in which he is smoking some 2019 mystery Latakia blend obtained from the generous selection on offer at the show today.IMG_6469.jpegIMG_6471.jpegIMG_6468.jpeg

Now smoking year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a late '80s, early 90s small bend medium brown smooth, unbranded Nording pot with a couple of small rusticated spots, an amber colored acrylic ferrule and tapered stem in the military mount style. Fed Norton the Nosey and will check on the other cats after I post this smoke. Watching an episode of The Unexplained.

Just finished smoking year 2015 Mac Baren Modern Virginia in a medium bend, smooth dark brown 1950s Peterson 999 Shamrock chubby Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Fed all the ferals without incident, and all of them went outside afterward. Got a few pics of Norton the Nosey, some of which I'll down load later. Here's three I took while keeping him from being interested in the others.

Last smoke of the day is year 2016 Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake in a straight smooth brown 1962 Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special 2104 Made in England billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. It's been a humid evening.

Couldn't sleep, so I got up to feed the ferals, which took some time to do since everybody was inside. M'lady heard the noise so she got out of bed and made sure Norton the Nosey wasn't nosey until I gave him some wet food at a distance from Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave. I had to keep Harry the Hairy away from the others, but he ate well; more than usual. Just finishing this bowl of year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 egg with a smooth brown front and a black sandblasted back with a dark gold ferrule and black vulcanite stem in the military mount style.

Had a couple of things to do while I was still awake, and smoked a bowl of year 2020 D&R Penhooker in a slight bent smooth brown circa 1950s-60s Orlik De Luxe London Made L174 woodstock with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Going back to bed now.
