Last smoke of the day is year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 egg with a smooth brown front and a black sandblasted back with a dark gold ferrule and black vulcanite stem in the military mount style. Daisy the Feral Princess wanted more wet food, and she's eating. I'm reading while this bowl lasts.

Taking out a couple of 1922s today - being Dad’s birth year.

Dad passed away on Wednesday, after a short illness (influenza), 3 days short of his 103rd birthday

I can’t recall ever seeing him with a pipe, but he smoked cigarettes for years - Players Navy Cut, Lucky Strike, Peter Stuyvesant, Benson&Hedges.
He stopped smoking in 1985 after a heart attack

So here’s to you Dad

1st up is a 1922 FLC straight billiard

Being a cigarette smoker, I thought Dad would be happy with the blend of Burley, Virginia and Cavendish in MacBaren’s Navy Flake

My Condolences to You and Your faimily, Sir

C&D Oak Alley — a blend that definitely deserves attention.
Components: white and brown Burley, red Virginias, Perique, and a touch of Turkish Katirini. Presented as a krumble cake. The tin note is woody and slightly citrusy, with hints of grapefruit and dried fruit. It smokes cool and steady, producing thick, flavorful smoke with an earthy-sweet character. Fresh out of the tin it can be a bit moist, so a short drying time helps. Reviews are mixed — some call it one of C&D’s finest Burley-based blends, while others find it a bit “too lively.” But that’s part of its charm. Personally, I like it: balanced, full-bodied, and quite different from most C&D offerings. A great choice for those who appreciate a blend with depth, patience, and personality.

Good morning, and Happy Halloween!
This was a small bowlful of Per Jensen’s Harbour Dreams, it being the second bowl smoked out of this nameless little meer. This being the first time I’ve had it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it does fill a nice gap in the pipe tobacco space left empty by McC’s closing, that being an actual, true nutty flavor.
It’s no Holiday Spirit, and I wish it was more smooth, but I’ll throw a few tins in the cellar for a few years and hope for the best. I don’t foresee it kicking anything out of the long-term rotation, but I’m certainly glad that it exists, and we should all be so lucky that it’s getting a full run v.s. a limited one.
