Got a new roof today, and celebrated (really just celebrating the fact that nothing got destroyed today, which these days is a goddamn miracle in and of itself) with a first-time try of Missouri Meerschaum Missouri Malta (so much for brevity on my jar label, gotta cram that s**t in) in my aromatic pipe, a Savinelli Miele 641 KS smooth bent apple, paired with a vodka tonic that was most appreciated. Run-on sentences aside, that was one of the best bowls I've ever had. 10/10 (which joins Drew Estate Gatsby Luxury Flake and Presbyterian for the only blends to get that rating in my 7 years of pipe smoking)

Bird report: House finch, California towhee, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, California quail, Mountain chickadee, White-breasted nuthatch, Northern flicker, Spotted towhee, Bushtit, and Western bluebird.

Going to need some rest tomorrow, and perhaps play some Floyd, as it is the 17th anniversary of Rick Wright's passing. 🎶

I may also ponder on my propensity for overusage of parentheses (but probably not).

Not really todays smoke but yesterday while doing my chores I folded and stuffed a few coins of Three Nuns into a Peterson Full Bent Billiard with a deceivingly deep bowl. I puffed on it on and off all day which feels codgery in a way, I'd smoke it until it got hot or I needed to divert my attentions elsewhere and then lit it back up when I had the time. Tasty smoke but I'm thinking I might try something in this pipe besides Virginias, I have pipes that sing Virginia better if that makes sense.

Just finished smoking year 2012 Butera Pelican in a 1970s slight bend black sandblasted English Rustic 120S Billiard (Comoy’s second) with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe originally belonged to my college art mentor, the late professor Walter Barker. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is with m'lady.

Now smoking year 2018 D&R Raccoon’s Accent in a pre-WWII straight smooth brown The Lumberman Special (Comoy’s) with a tapered black vulcanite saddle stem. Getting near Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave's wet food time.

I'm definitely an optimist! ;-) Thought I would get all the roof up today, but decided to put in some diagonal braces first, and with a couple other interruptions didn't start on the metal until after 4:30pm... got 4 of 9 panels up before too dark. Now gonna be away for another few days..oh well. It'll wait for me.

Just finished smoking year 2020 H&H Chatham Manor in a straight black sandblasted, smooth dark brown top bowl 2021 Jim Brown stack Rhodesian with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Watching the Orioles-White Sox game. Daisy the Feral Princess ate a little, laid on a catnip sock for a short while, and then wanted out. Tomato the Brave ate well, thanked me, and has been snoozin' in the box since then. Harry the Hairy ate and ran.

I'll do my first pipe smoking test alone at home, to check how my sense of smell is doing. I can't wait to start smoking again.
I hope you nose and sense of smell is firing on all cylinders again.
Awful when you can't smell, because your sense of taste is also impacted.

I had major sinus issues some years ago - only fixed with surgery.
I was at a whisky tasting during that time - a line-up of whiskies ranging from the entry $30 bottle to a $1000 rarity
Could NOT taste a darn thing
Friend (???) said "not a bad thing - save yourself a whole lot of money. Just buy the cheap shit, 'cos you can't tell the difference !"

Enjoy batching & Happy smokes puffy

Enjoyed a tasty red delicious apple, and am half way through this bowl of Wilke No. 515 in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked, and the model that he smoked it in.
