Americans: Do You Not Have 'Normal' Coins Anymore?

Quarters - changed out word to distinguish it from living quarters.

We've been enjoying Orlando for the past week, and are having a great time at the usual parks. The kids were given some spending money before we left, and have been paying cash for their purchases.

In all their change, I don't think I've seen a normal looking quarter. They have all been, without exception, featuring something on the tails side, a state, an historical figure, a monument, whatever. They've all been different too, no two are the same.

Do you seriously not have normal quarters anymore?

Those are normal Quarters. Did you perhaps mean the older style with the eagle ? Those are vintage and still in circulation but high volume tourist areas are probably turning in their loose change to banks and getting the new ones in rolls in return. If you don't like them I'll give you a dime for every one you don't want ...

P.S. you can stop into a bank and see if they have the cardboard folders for collecting them for each of your kids and they can collect all 50 states. It will give them something educational and fun and lucrative to do.

Just goes to show you how bored our mint is. After printing out trillions of paper money, those guys need to get creative and mint some neat quarters.

We seriously don’t have normal quarters anymore and it’s spreading to other coins as well. Ugh.

Who bothers with pot metal change in these inflationary times? I just leave it in the little coin dish attached to the cash register. It's an annoyance to wear it in my pants, banging against my Zippo. They can stamp Kim Kardashian's ass on it for all I care.

outside of the laundry mat I dont think of quarters much.. A can of Soda costs a dollar at work so I don't buy them and on the rare occasion I do get one the machine takes dollar bills.

I pretty much only use quarters when I go to ALDI, where you need a quarter to unlock the shopping cart (that’s a trolley for you loyal subjects of Charles III).

Yeah, we've ****ed it up. 4 new quarter designs a year.

I have not used coins for many years now. Every transaction is with an App, credit card, or paper notes.
This is a bit sad because I treasure fond memories of coin collecting in my youth.

When visiting family in Austria years ago, I remember them complaining about how boring American money and stamps were. Apparently now it's too exciting. Oh the irony.
