Very beautiful antiques. Thank you for educating all on history of pipe stems.
Horn stems are interesting but amber stems are something else - more interesting, beautiful, tactile and varied as I'm sure you'd agree - from clear to cloudy, to clear and cloudy on the same stem and from pale yellow to dark orange ...
When I've finished doing a few jobs in my study - hopefully by the middle of June - I'd be happy to put together a selection of different amber stems if you'd like to see them.

Thanks Virkia
It really does look a lot like the #62 except paneled. Thanks for taking the time to respond and thanks for the information.
Are those your Comoys in the images you posted? They both look awesome - definitely what I like anyway.
Great pleasure to be of any help I can although my knowledge is very limited not having kept up with the wonderful world of pipes since the early 1990s.
Yes, a couple of my Comoy's pipes from the late 1970s/early 1980s (one has the nomenclature SELECTED STRAIGHT GRAIN and the other GOLDEN GRAIN).
Just love 'Zulu' type shapes such as yours and after the 'Rhodesian' it's probably my favourite of all the traditional pipe shapes.

Currently, 2015 LNF in an Invicta Briars Dublin. It is good.

Don‘t have an Invicta Briar? Get one. Even though these guys are Brits, which is certainly not their fault, they’re a good indie and worthy of your support. And their pipes are completely suitable for the task at hand, which is a plus. Furthermore, their wares are what Marge would have described as “reasonable”. First to get the reference wins tobacco, on me, shipped to you. PM me though, because I’m only here from time to time.

Previously, some more of the new school Wilke High Hat in another Stanwell No.11. Also good. Different, a granted given the changes in available tobaccos, but good. Very smooth, a bit less robust than the original. I’ll have to get around to updating my original review,,, tr.c @perique

The LNF is paired with Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey, my fav for this style of tobacco. The Wilke, typically paired with Duality Double Malt, was this time sipped with some Jack Daniels Sinatra, an unexpected gift from the young lady that is auditioning for the role of future daughter-in-law, that has proven to be a pleasant surprise, the smoothest by far of the unsweetened line. I guess ole Frank knew something about corn whiskey.

Has there been, in retrospect, a more overrated musical artist? Ever? Perhaps Bob Dylan.

Enjoyed a necessary nap, and a bowl of year 2017 Savinelli Doblone d’Oro in a smooth straight brown early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem.
