Sandwiched between two other library pipes from some years earlier and some years later:-
1) Clay Churchwarden with green glazed tip by W. Southorn (1850-1900) with a twist in the stem at the point of balance - a style that was popular from c.1850 to c.1880.

2) E.B over W.B stamped on the mount and on the albatross wing bone extension

E.B over W.B without frame - Edward Barling & William Barling, The firm was established in 1812 by Benjamin Barling who entered his first mark in 1815. The style of the firm was changed in 1851 (or before) to Benjamin Barling & Sons. The firm was managed by Edwin Barling and his brother William Barling. In 1955 the firm was converted into a limited liability company as B. Barling & Sons Ltd and became a subsidiary of The Imperial Tobacco Group Ltd, trading from Liverpool. Pipe mounters.
