Orange is the New Blue?

They keep saying it’s supposed to be a blue moon (last evening and tonight), but it’s been as orange as can be. It was kind of a perfect moon for Halloween last night, but I’m not seeing any blue...

I only notice the orange as the morning sun came up opposite across the horizon this morning.

California has been on fire for a while now, so orange has been the new norm when either the sun or moon is near the horizon.

I wanted to take a picture, but I didn't. When I drove across our lake, I noticed that the whole thing was glowing orange... from the reflection. I bet a photographer would be all over that.

Maybe it is from the fires..

I think the “Blue” Moon is usually a reference to the second full moon in a month. Not rare, but not frequent, hence the expression “once in a blue moon”.

The term “blue moon” does not refer to the color of the moon. It’s more an anomaly of the calendar.

Exactly. The full moon on Halloween only happens every 19 years, but the one this year that could be seen in every time zone in the U.S. only happens every 76 years.
