I never understood why anyone would want a pipe with a face on it, dog, pirate, whatever, it's just utterly bizarre to me.

This is the first ornately carved Meerschaum I've seen that makes sense.

Yes. The tower actually can serve as a wind screen but it will only hold about half a bowl.
