Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with Michael Johnson, a.k.a. “CosmicFolklore” in the Forums. Michael is a Silversmith who creates custom jewelry, eyewear frames and other wearable art, along with custom tampers. In our opening segment, Brian will tell you a little about the big industry trade show, IPCPR, along with a “Big Tobacco” merger. After the “Mailbag”, Brian will also have a surprise announcement about himself and his fulltime job. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!
Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, CupOJoes.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, MeerschaumStore.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

Hello Brian Memorex,
I believe you could be the Elvis impersonator more than that you were attacked by Marylyn Monoroe in Vegas.
I am not familiar with Michael Johnson’s work except for the tampers offered in the JDF fund raising effort, but will check it out at the shows. A virginia lover – good man! He sounds like a person who enjoys his work! Jewelry making like pipe making takes real skill. I’ll bet he soon moves to making pipes. Nice interview.
Music – I think I like the Jimminey Cricket version of “When You Wish Upon a Star” better, something about my childhood and the Mickey Mouse Club. I forgot, that was before your time!
News: Congrats – I guess you will get your own top access to all that latakia and Virginia tobaccos now!
Rant – It is just common courtesy, clean up after your mess.
Nice show
Great show.
I look forward to hearing the news on the FDA debacle. I am just curious why the show is in July, in Vegas. Could it get any hotter?
I loved Michael’s tampers that he made for the JDF. They are truly works of art. Opal is one of my favorite gemstones. I am not familiar with his other work, but I will have to acquaint myself with it. It is fun to hear about forum members that you have seen here but never really knew their background. Cosmicfolklore is prolific on the forums. Very cool interview.
Everytime I hear “When You Wish Upon A Star” it reminds me of the show “The Wonderful World of Disney” and whisks me back to my childhood. I loved it.
Congratulations on your new position! That is great news. Nothing like tripling your responsibilities over night, huh? You are going to be a busy man! As if you weren’t busy enough already.
Pleasant enough interview with a guy who has some artistic talent. I really enjoyed looking at his work on his website.
With a gun to my head I would never admit to that song being anything other than a “I was forced to play this by mad elves!” selection. That was awful. Leigh Harline and Ned Washington must have been rolling in their graves.
Now that you are part of Sutliff does this means you will be giving your pipes away rather than selling them?? Just Kidding. Congratulations to both you and Sutliff.
I don’t know why you would want to give us an update on the FDA proposals. Shouldn’t you have Mike McNiel handle that?? :-))
Another great show Brien been catching up on some of the past shows especially with last weeks guest the lady pipe maker. Keep up the good work now back to my bent Dublin with Mac Baren’s Plumcake.
Hey Brian!
With reference to your new gig…Mazel tov!
