The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 40

Kevin Godbee
Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We want to thank you for listening and being one of our loyal 15,000 weekly fans. Your host is Brian Levine and in tonight’s “Pipe Parts” segment he will talk about the reasons why tobacco get so beat up politically, but the alcohol industry can put out bubble gum flavored vodka and no one cares. As you may be aware, pipe smoking has been seeing a resurgence amongst the younger generation. We will be talking to PipesMagazine.com Forum Moderator, Ben Szpaichler, known as “Uberam3rica” in the forums. Ben has been smoking a pipe for two years, and he is 20-years old. We thought it would be interesting to hear the perspective of one of the new generation’s pipe smokers.

Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, and MeerschaumStore.com, Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.

  • hey Brian,
Have a safe trip to KC…
    Good analysis on the bans.
Ben Szpaichler- good interview. Things have changed since I was a young pipe smoker. Everybody in college smoked a pipe. Even in class.
Rick’s audio book definitely sounds like something every pipe smoker should have.
rant: you don’t suck, its just the old age showing. ha ha ha
Keep up the good programming, Brian.

  • Thats a very flattering picture of me. I had just woken up and hadn’t had my coffee pr a shower yet.

  • Ha ha ha! Sorry Ben. I thought you looked pretty cool and rugged there. Usually, I only get in trouble with chicks for posting pics they don’t like.

  • Great Show
Ben…Great job sounded like a natural.
Brian don’t worry about repeating things two times its when you repeat things three times that’s when you start to worry.
We can start to call you “Brian two times” like a gangster yeah Two Times.

  • Just downloaded Rick’s audiobook – it will tide me over until next week’s podcast. Thanks for playing the snippet!

  • Great show Brian, thanks. Ben was great, he sure did not sound like a 20 year old kid, much more like a seasoned veteran. Way to go Ben, you did yourself proud.

  • Great show Brian as usual 🙂
hire in Canada Starbucks have put on ther windows the the no smoking inside and on the terasse and in a 21 foot area around the building.
I have decide to boycott them too.
I now going to Second cup because they let me smoke my pipe…

  • Interesting show. I enjoyed hearing from Ben and his experiences as a young pipe smoker. Reminds me of myself at 19 buying my first pipe. Very cool!! Thank you Brian for reminding me to contact Starbucks. We do need to be more vocal regarding our rights. Another enjoyable show.

  • Having been a forum member for a while now, I found the interview with Ben fantastic–I can remember when he joined the forum and have, in a way, seen him grow into the community member he is now. Thanks for being part of the family Ben!
