Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our featured interview is with pipe maker Alexander Hasty. Alex started making pipes in 2011. He was initially self taught. After a few years of it as a hobby & finishing college he decided it was what he wanted to do. He then went and spent time learning from Grant Batson. He is a full time pipe maker. In Pipe Parts, Brian will discuss a write-in question oh which tobaccos are best for breaking in a new pipe. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!
Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Cornell & Diehl, Missouri Meerschaum, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

Very good show!
Alexander Hasty was a wonderful interview. I can’t believe he has only been carving for a few years. He’s got a tough road ahead of him to make it as a full-time carver. There’s very few carvers who get to work full time at their craft. There just isn’t enough money in it to do it full time. He’s from Ottawa which is only thirty miles down the road from where I live. My wife was born, raised and is a graduate of their high school. She left town when she was 19. Only 55 years ago. We still go down to visit every so often.
Nice music selection.
I listened intently to this interview. It was pretty smooth. Then, I was trying to think of something to comment and the music began. Took my mind off of what I’d been trying to think.
Brian, in another interview with Alex, I’d like more about the Grant Batson input/experience.
Puffaway,
Mike
Alexander’s interview was enjoyable. I’m impressed with what he has accomplished in a short time. I wish him luck, and I hope he is able to stay making pipes full time. It’s always nice when people are able to make a living doing what they love. Pleasant smokes!
Good interview. I was surprised he started full time already. Best of luck to him. I always enjoy listening to break in tips and experience, nice segment. I agree on the song, very uplifting and fun song but had nothing to do with heartbreak for me, but you never know what people are going through when they write a song.
