Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with pipe maker Bill Walther. Bill started making pipes part time in the early 1980s. In 2013, he retired and became a full time pipe maker. He makes very high quality artisan free hands that are works of art. In the "Pipe Parts" segment, Brian will have a trip report on the West Coast Pipe Show in Las Vegas, and we will also have a little update on the FDA situation on pipe tobacco. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!
Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

Good show as usual. The Pipe Parts report on the WCPS was very good and pretty much in agreement with friends of mine who went. Really glad they are going to have it next year.
The pipe interview with Bill Walther was very interesting. Working with watches and models really prepared him for a career in making pipes. The toughest thing is he talks so slow that your asking him the next question when he isn’t done with the last one.
Enjoyed the musical selection though I will suspect that a lot of people didn’t.
Loved the last two shows, Brian! Great to get your take on the Vegas show. Sure hope to be able to make that one some year soon… Bill Walther is one of those guys I could talk with forever. I have enjoyed his company a lot at the last two Chicago shows where our tables have been back to back. His pipes are beautiful, and at a very affordable prices! The music was good, too! David Akeman played excellent clawhammer banjo.
Last week’s show with Ronnie B was fantastic too! Another great guy I love to spend time with at shows, or when I get down to Nashville and can stop by his place for a visit. He does fantastic work! Looking forward to seeing what he gets into once he has his shop retooled.
Hope you’re feeling better soon! Scott
Another totally enjoyable show! The laid-back conversation with Bill Walther was quite engaging and informative, as was your review of the Vegas show.
I have to agree with both Dan and Scott, Stringbean is always a joy to hear, and one of the true clawhammer masters. He and his good friend Grandpa Jones, along with Roy Clark played the hell out of those good-old songs on “Hee Haw.”
Hey! I love my vests. They’re like a man-purse for the pipe smoker. Sure, if I’m goin’ out, a sports coat, preferably tweed, with capacious patch pockets, is just the thing. But, at my age, I really don’t give a crap what others think about my sartorial choices (except for what the Mrs. thinks, of course).
Thanks,
Dino
