Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with Jeremiah Sandahl. Jeremiah is a part-time pipe maker, full time web developer, and a classically-trained piano player. Tonight’s music will be performed by Jeremiah as well. In the “Pipe Parts” segment, Brian will talk more about pipe shapes. This time he will tell us which pipe shapes he considers the best shapes for smoking—the Pot & Poker. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!
Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, CupOJoes.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, 4noggins.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

Hi Brian,
You keep eating the sweets, and the waist will be expanding.
I tend to disagree that the pot and poker are optimal pipes, especially for new pipe smokers. I have to go with either a straight or bent billiard. I would refer you to Georges Herment’s book “The Pipe” who suggests that the bulldog is the ultimate pipe for smoking and presents his rationale. I am finding out that I like a bent egg shaped bowl in a pipe.
Well, you found another pipe maker with which I am not familiar. Jeremiah Sandahl is a new name to me. The pipes on his website look interesting. I will look him up this year at Chicago.
Music – Jeremiah’s rendition of the Entertainer was excellent!
Rant – You have met the future and it is not good. I am glad that you got your smoking room and they did try to solve the situation.
Good show – waiting for Chicago!
Another great show. Not so sure about the Pot & Poker but have to agree in principal that the more wood you have the better off you are.
Loved the interview with Sandahl. What an interesting background he has. I have to admire his music skill though as a rule I loathe piano music. I think Bruce Weaver’s remark about “ugly and overpriced” should be passed on to all beginning carvers until they have at least made 50 pipes. Jeremiah seems like he has a wonderful family but I would remind him that “rich people have money – poor people have babies”.
The music selection was just wonderful. You just can never go wrong with Scott Joplin and Jeremiah’s playing was “spot on”.
I appreciated the explanation of your job with Mac Baren. I know you will do a bang up job there. Disappointed nobody is talking about the first shoe that fell.
As for the rant and your recent encounter with the desk clerk from hell all I can tell is there is nothing more aggravating than dealing with a minimum wage employee given a little power (see TSA agents). Glad you stood your ground with him and saw the manager in the morning and got the resolution Hilton had agreed to in the first place. One must always be civil when dealing with corporate bureaucracy but you have to stand your ground.
Hey Jeremiah, I heard the show and it was great. You said you were a homebrewer..what is your favorite recipe? I’ve been brewing for about a year and am looking for a good mainstay brew to keep 🙂
