Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 530

Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 530! Our featured interview tonight is with Fernando Santiago. Fernando is a collector of predominantly Leeds-era Ben Wade pipes along with seconds brands, pipe catalogues and price lists. His collection also includes cigar and cigarette holders and match vesta cases, boxes, pipe sleeves and pamphlets. He has also collected print matter including a company history and advertising. As if that’s not enough, he has also conducted interviews (to the extent possible) with the living descendants of Ben Wade and children of the final proprietors of the company before its sale to Hermann Lane. In Pipe Parts, we have a large mailbag to get caught up on that includes some pipe smoking 101 refreshers. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

  • Wow! What a terrific conversation with our friend Fernando! I learned more about him and his collections from this show than in all the time we’ve shared on our Saturday ZOOM meetings. His encyclopedic knowledge of Ben Wade pipes should most definitely be shared in book form. Get on it, Fernando!
A great choice for music. Segovia playing Paganini…aah.
I really enjoyed the many comments and feedback from the voluminous “mail bag.”
Yes, another always entertaining show. Thanks.

  • A terrific show!! Fernando did a tremendous job describing his collection of pipes, particularly his Ben Wade’s. His truly encyclopedic of knowledge of the Ben Wade brand ought to be in a book. He better hurry with it because I’m running out of time.
You can’t go wrong with Segovia and Paganini. Two giants at their best.
The extended mailbag was highly enjoyable, particularly those you had from people who normally don’t write in.
