  • Your discussion with Ash was both entertaining and timely.
Although I’m not as strident as Fred, I agree with his assessment of the quality of tobacco leaf today. As a result of the nearly total mechanization of tobacco farming, the shortcuts taken in leaf preparation, and the overall lack of truly distinctive varietals, the tobacco produced today yields precious few outstanding blends. Like you Brian, my go-to blend is no longer produced, and will never again be duplicated.
Boy, the music back in the day was great. And yes, GET OFF MY LAWN!
Thanks for another fun show. Welcome back.

  • I think the tobacco from the old days was superior to what we have in tobacco today. But today’s tobacco is really not bad. Why else would we continue to smoke? And the worse stuff on the market then was much worse than we have to deal with today. I guess that can be our comfort. And as far as “taste memory” or whatever he called it I am totally at a loss. I don’t have one of those . I will continue to muddle forward with what I’ve got.
Hard to believe Ash doesn’t wear any jewelry other than a watch. I am a long way from being a clothes horse yet I wear a ring, a watch, and bracelet. I guess if you are going to wear only one of those a Rolex watch would be the thing to wear. It would have been nice to see which Rolex he wears.
I enjoyed the music. I’m writing this five days after the show so god only knows what it was.
