Cornell & Diehl Opening Night – Pipe Tobacco Reviews

The pouch aroma of this blend is a very nice Virginia sweet and tangy smell. The moisture level of this is, as with every C&D blend that I have tried, perfect for smoking right away. This blend is a broken flake (Fig. 1), so I lightly rubbed it out leaving it a little chunky (Fig. 2). I loaded the pipe using my two step method and packed it loosely.

On the charring light I am greeted by a very nice Virginia sweetness and aroma. I knew that this was going to be a good smoke so I settled back with a cup of tea to relax. Half way through the bowl and I can say that I love it! This is a really good blend. There is a really good sweetness from the Virginias and it is accompanied by a slight tanginess and a little bit of spice. I am getting no bite from this blend at all. I have even pushed it some to see if it would bite and it is not.

This blend is a great straight forward Virginia blend. The taste was very consistent and very pleasing and it never bit me. The sweet, tangy, and spicy tastes were all there during the entire smoke. They did not change from one to the other, but were all present at the same time. I really like it and I will definitely be buying some more of it to smoke and some to put in my cellar to age. Cornell & Diehl makes some great pipe blends and this is another winner! I Highly Recommend it!
