I arrived in Chicago on the afternoon of Thursday April 29, to cover The 2010 Chicago Pipe Show held by the Chicagoland Pipe Collectors Club (CPCC). Kevin picked me up at the airport and we drove back to the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. and I checked into my room. The resort had accidentally booked me in a handicapped room (everything was made shorter to be assessable and I am 6 feet tall) so I had to change rooms and Kevin upgraded me to a suite next to his.
After I had finished unpacking and freshened up, we headed out for a great dinner at the Harvest restaurant in the resort. After dinner, we went to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in the resort Theater. It was a quite funny and entertaining show. It had been a long day for us so we decided to head off to bed so we could rest up for a very busy Friday.

Friday morning we heading down to the Mega Center to check out the Pre-Show activities.
While we were at the Pre-Show, I stopped by the table of John Tolle, President of the North American Society of Pipe Collectors (NASPC), to say hello and to check out what he had available. Among some nice pipes and pipe accessories, John also had some of the older limited edition NASPC pipe tobacco blends made by G.L. Pease Tobacco.
We also met and spoke with Gary B. Schrier. Kevin and I both bought a copy of Confessions of a Pipeman and Gary was kind enough to sign each of our copies.

After the Pre-Show, we spent awhile handling various tasks and going over a game plan for the full show on Saturday and Sunday. Later Friday evening, we sat in the smoking tent fraternizing with everybody and smoking the night away. Of course there were quite a few drinks involved.
After smoking, drinking, and chatting the night away; we headed for bed. We had to get up early for a busy Saturday which lied ahead. Stay Tuned for More Coverage of the 2010 Chicago Pipe Show!
