2009 25th Annual C.O.R.P.S./Richmond Pipe Show Coverage – Part 5

By Bob Tate

corpsThis is the final part of our 2009 C.O.R.P.S./Richmond Pipe Show coverage. This is going to be a very short piece. It is the interview with Craig Norris – President of C.O.R.P.S. / Conclave of Richmond Pipe Smokers.

Before we get to the interview with Craig, we would like to say a few words and reiterate some of the things that were said at the show and in our coverage of the show.

Please help and support the pipe smoking hobby.
Help to educate the younger generation of pipe smokers on the enjoyment that pipe smoking brings. Without the younger generations to carry on this hobby, it won’t last much longer.

Support your local retail tobacconist shops (B&M’s). With all of the current smoking bans and without your local B&M, you may not have a place to smoke outside of your own home soon.

Support your local pipe club. If you don’t have a local pipe club, start one. Pipe clubs are a great thing because it allows you to have in person gatherings to discuss this wonderful hobby that we love so much. Consider joining a large club like C.O.R.P.S. or a national pipe club such as NASPC – North American Society of Pipe Collectors.
The more pipe clubs that there are, the more it will allow pipe smokers to have a larger voice instead of a bunch of small voices trying to shout over all of the lies of the anti-tobacco crowd. We MUST become a tobacco advocate crowd to fight against the anti-tobacco crowd!

Start standing up for all tobacco users everywhere, no matter what type of tobacco that they choose to use. You don’t have to agree with someone’s choices to defend the right to make our own choices. Without other avenues of tobacco, there will be no pipe tobacco. Like it or not, pipe tobacco on its own does not produce a large enough revenue to make it profitable for tobacco companies to keep producing by itself.
Forget all of the BS health issues and the rest of the anti propaganda about tobacco. This is about adults living in free societies being able to make their own choices and not being told what they can or can’t do. Being told what you can and can’t do is not a free society.

Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed of smoking your pipe. Smoke your pipe whenever and wherever you legally can. If someone seems interested in your pipe smoking, point them in the right direction so they can get started if they wish.

We must become united! Not only as pipe smokers, but as free citizens choosing to enjoy ourselves in a legal activity, tobacco. We must not let them push tobacco into prohibition!

Now on to the interview with Craig Norris!
