Two new blends are being added to the popular Villiger 1888 series.
Cocktail Hour and After Dinner, will both be available in 50g tins in late-August / early-September. From the descriptions, it seems that Cocktail Hour is a Danish-style aromatic, and After Hours sounds especially interesting with its mix of Virginia, Burley and Perique
According to Villiger-Stokkebye, Cocktail Hour is a unique hand-stripped, spun-cut tobacco blend consisting of flue cured Virginia from the USA and Brazil, blended with air cured tobacco from Malawi. A flue cured wrapper leaf from Brazil completes the blend. Cocktail Hour has notes of pineapple and chocolate.
After Dinner is a flake tobacco made from flue-cured Virginia and aromatic Burley, spiced with Louisiana Perique. The blend has a smooth, complex tobacco taste with an aroma associated with traditional Bali/Dutch tobaccos.
PipesMagazine.com will be sampling the new blends at the upcoming IPCPR Show in Las Vegas next week, and will report back on our findings.
The currently available Villiger 1888 blends are as follows.
Early Day Tin Description:
Mature golden Virginias blended with Oriental leaf and Latakia from the Balkan region. The rich share of Latakia makes this blend a true English classic with a characteristic smoky room note.
Mid Day Tin Description:
A mixture of double steamed Black Cavendish, blended with Burley, Orient, and light Virgina tobaccos. A delightful aroma and top note vanilla and exotic fruit make this a mild and pleasant smoke in the early afternoon.
Late Night Tin Description:
A classic mixture of bright Virginia from the USA, Africa and Brazil, blended with some fermented Black Cavendish. Genuine Irish whiskey and fresh honey provides this blend an exciting taste and flavor.
I love Mid Day, and these sound interesting… I look forward to them!
I can’t wait to try them in Las Vegas next week.
Cocktail Hour is a dead on copy of Three Nuns. So for those of us in the US that can’t get Three Nuns, Cocktail Hour is a perfect substitute.
well every one these three are just great and have a calming affect on me like a hot mug of tea after a truly long day at work.
If the quality is anything like “mid-day,” I will be thoroughly pleased! Can’t wait!
Kevin, as of this post, PipesAndCigars is stating that After Dinner is the Three Nuns clone.
That is incorrect. It is Cocktail Hour that is the Three Nuns copy. I will let them know. Thanks Larry.
Looking forward to getting a tin of Cocktail Hour.
