Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 533

Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 533! Our featured interview tonight is with Tim Beaumont from Papa Bear’s Pipes. In 2018, Tim quit his job to pursue his passion of wood-working, and began making furniture. He had a piece of walnut wood that looked like it would make a nice pipe, so he made one. Next, he made one from the more traditional briar. Then he made another, and another and so on. We’ve heard similar stories before. Tim’s pipes are beautiful works of art in classic, and freehand shapes.  At the top of the show, Brian will have his annual gift giving ideas for pipe smokers. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

  • Tim Beaumont’s story of his love of woodworking was a great prelude to the amazing works of art that are his pipes. While Tim’s freehands are just plain stunning, his artistic treatment of classic shapes is quite remarkable. A very interesting conversation, indeed.
The Roosevelt Jazz Band’s “Peanut Brittle Brigade” was a wonderful performance of the Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn re-imagining of “The Nutcracker.” Good choice!
Your suggestions for a safer season of holiday purchasing were spot-on. Linda and I were recent victims of a fraudulent bank account “rape,” and found out from our banker that this is prime time for all kinds of bank and check fraud. One of her suggestions was to use a special pen to prevent “check-washing.” Uniball’s 207 fraud-proof pen is an excellent choice for writing checks.
Thanks for another always entertaining show.

  • It was a very good show. Really good recommendations on gifts. Pipe cleaners are a really thoughtful way to stuff a stocking. You never can have too many if those.
Your interview with Tim was very pleasant. His pipes are really pleasant to look at.
Much to my surprise I really enjoyed the Roosevelt Jazz Band’s “Peanut Brittle Brigade”. I do admit that I found it a little long but that is a mere quibble.
You just can’t be careful enough today. It seems someone’s always looking for the easy way to do things.
