The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 359

Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our featured interview tonight is with an international man of mystery that only goes by his code name of “Lucky”. He’s a longtime pipe smoker and custom furniture maker, and an inventor. Lucky has invented a traveling pipe cabinet and workstation – a super pipe and tobacco travel case of sorts, called SCooSA. In Pipe Parts, Brian will have a review of the new G.L. Pease Penny Farthing tobacco blend. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Cornell & Diehl, Missouri Meerschaum, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • Another fun show! Lucky was a terrific guest. I’m proud to say he’s a fellow CPCC member, despite his green hair origins (“Oh, that was you!”). At our last meeting he sat next to me with his Scoosa, and everyone, who hadn’t been at the Show, was oohing and aahing and asking all about it. The case is amazingly both functional and beautiful. I also really enjoyed Lucky’s backstory of school, work, and his introduction to pipes.
The Sarah Mclachlan cover of “Blackbird” was lovely, and it is among my favorites, too.
Thanks for entertaining me once again, Brian.

  • “Inventor” is generous. I saw a need, I took a swing at filling that need. We’ll see what the people have to say about the attempt.
A special thank-you to all the members of the Chicagoland Pipe Collectors Club and especially those who participated in the focus group. I was nervous about being interviewed and am not sure if I said that out loud or not. So I’m saying it here.

  • The SCooSA is a thing of beauty. When traveling, I have always wanted a case that I could pull out of my bag, set down on the hotel dresser or desk which would have all my pipes, tobaccos and accessories neatly organized and in one place. A message to the wives and families of pipe smokers who are listening- This is the best Christmas gift for the pipe smoker I have ever seen!
