The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 331

Kevin Godbee
Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Tonight’s featured interview will be the 4th and last in our series with the former owners of the now closed McClelland Tobacco company, “Storytime with Mike & Mary McNiel”. Most people know that McClelland was one of the most popular boutique pipe tobacco companies for 40-years. Their story is well told in Tobacconist Magazine. The part that only pipe show attendees know is that Mary & Mike are a joy, and a pleasure to listen to, so our show listeners are in for a real treat. In Pipe Parts, Brian will tobacco review on Sutliff Crumble Kake Red Virginia. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Cornell & Diehl, Missouri Meerschaum, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up
player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • I didn’t intend to comment on every show, but I couldn’t resist telling you again how much I am enjoying the Mike and Mary interview. The story about the man who corresponded with Frog Morton was beyond precious, it was classic. Her adventures getting in and out of Greece were enthralling. Another great show.
    Thank you

  • That was a really good show. Mary’s reminisces were priceless. I don’t know which one I liked better, the travels through Greece or the guying writing in as Frog Morton. Mike was enjoyable when he talked about going through the auction barns.
Glad the majority of us preferred the Dom Clemons song because Chris Thile really screwed the pooch on his. Even great musicians have off days.

  • Just a fantastic installment in the McNiel interviews. The letters to Frog Morton are incredible. That must have been such a surreal feeling the first time they received such a letter.
