  • Good show this week, fun pipe parts. I have to disagree with the logic of leaving pipe cleaners in the stem. If you pull the pipe cleaner out and there is any moisture on it, that is moisture that you have trapped in the stem and shank. In my experience, that means a sour pipe eventually. Even in a bag there is moving air. I’m surprised that you taste wax on a stem, Brian. Unless the stem is way over waxed, I don’t find carnauba to to have a flavor. I hadn’t heard Ian Anderson’s solo work, and I am glad that you shared it.

  • This show definitely answered some big questions I had on pipe care and it was nice to hear the difference in methods between you two. One question I do have is, if you are doing the salt and alcohol treatment of the bowl, do you just carefully pour the alcohol in to the bowl, or do you use a “dropper” to make sure none of the alcohol touches the rim?
I agree with you wholeheartedly on the rant. Its important to have at least the basic etiquette of a foreign country understood before you go there. As you pointed out, the tour guides should have had that covered, and made sure the etiquette was followed. “When in Rome” as they say. It was funny to hear you poke fun at the California stereotype. Being from Kansas I understand how those stereotypes tend to cling to you if someone hasn’t had much exposure to people from different areas. Of course I rode horseback to the local one room school house, just kidding.

  • Dear Brian, love the shows.
However you did a disservice on the Falcon pipe. I have a few and love them. Have no problem with them and they smoke great.
You came across as a pipe snob! Only liking a traditional briar pipe.
    Kind regards
